Devlog 4 : week 2 of sprint 1


Hello Everyone, we are already in week 2 of the first sprint. Time is flying but we are making great progress. So lets dive into all the new game updates.

Art

Our Art team has begun with the models for the kitchen, creating a custom ui and making an master texture for the foodprops.

Props

for De kitchen models we no longer had the time to make concept art. We saw last week that this is taking up too much time so we went for a different way, still collecting references until we have enough inspiration to start modeling. This new method was a big adjustment at first, but as time went by it got better and faster. This decision will certainly help us meet our deadline and get the game ready on time in the future. The models will then be unwrapped over the next few weeks and then textured with a master texture for all kitchen props.

We are still perfecting the food items from last week. Some are already complete, but most have gone back into the  progress state after thorough consultation with the artists to make the best possible props with some minor changes.

We made the master texture that will be used for the food props this week. It was a little challenging trying to get the colors and gradients right but it looks pretty good and we’re excited to see how the colors translate to future food props. It was also a little challenging altering the UVs to fit the colors and get the gradients to show up properly as the models are also pretty low poly. Below is a screenshot of the props that were textured with the master texture!

Programming
UI

This week we finished the UI. We added a modular health system. You can see every item each player is holding and you can also see the current combo item if you have one.

We added a different color to each player because it was hard to see which player was who when everyone was one color.

Food menu

We added the food menu allowing players to make combo items using the ingredients they've picked up.

Spaghetti lasso

This week we added the spaghetti lasso. It is crafted using flour and a squid. When shot it shoots out a tentacle grabbing the first player it hits. The hit player gets dragged towards the player and is stunned for 1 seconds.
