Devlog 8 : End Of Sprint 2
Hello everyone, we are at the end of the second sprint. This was the last week we were able to add new features. After this we start the last 2 weeks of our game project. We will use these to polish our game and get the best possible result, but above all to have a game that is fun and nice to play.
Art
The artists discussed this week what we could add as it was the last week we could add features. Due to an error in our planning unfortunately we had to drop features like the pizza frisbee the cake bomb and other food items we wanted to implement. Instead we focused on small things that improved what we already had.
We adjusted the level layout a bit because during tests we saw that the players, for example, had too little space in the kitchen to walk. That's why the kitchen and stairs that were too thin were enlarged so that the players could play through the level more easily. As a result, we also had to change the landscape so that the level became one with the environment again. There are now also smaller islands that will need to be around the level so that it all blends together nicely. There is also now a death animation. We have chosen that the players go down in a confetti explosion. It's very cool to see. In addition, we have solved smaller things such as the collision of the tables.
And last but not least our cob of corn has finally gotten the texture it deserves, instead of just being a yellow blob.
We also added a proper crown mesh to indicate the winner of the previous rounds. Some particles for the dash were also added. And next to that, we now have proper renders for the food item icons with consistent lighting and proper alpha channels. Figuring out how to create the proper lighting setup and figuring out the proper render settings in maya for the renders took up a long time but the result was worth the effort.
Programming
This week the programmers have been busy adding particles to various different parts of the game. We now have particles when a player gets hit. This helps give the player a good indicator whether he actually got hit or not. The Molotov has also been revamped to work with a particle system.

A proper win screen has been added which shows which player won
