Devlog 5: The last week of the sprint1


Dear readers, Another busy week is behind us. The whole team has worked very hard to create the best level possible. It is of course far from done, but we have a solid foundation and are proud of the progress we have made with our level

Art

This week our team has mainly focused on creating the characters, building the level and making some extra props. It was nice to see that all the work we had done over the past few weeks came together and gave a beautiful result. We have not been able to complete all the tasks that we had planned for the first sprint so we are going to evaluate again how we will proceed with the game process and whether we will drop some tasks so that we can meet our deadline on time. And so that you guys will not have to wait a minute longer then needed for the foodfight game.

Props

Our artists modeled this week a lot of key elements for the game like modular walls and docks. Thanks to the fact that we made these model models, that is, models that we can use in different places in the level, we will save a lot of time in the future. We also modeled the chairs and tables. This made you immediately see that the level was a restaurant which was a lot harder to see in the previous weeks. In addition, we have adjusted the layout of our level again and we have started filling it with our models. After increasing the level a bit so that there was more room for the players, we obtained a very good result and we are very happy that all the weeks of work we have put into it have paid off in a nice result.


Character

Our character model also got an update. It is now a mean looking wolf chef more in line with the art style we were going for with different colors for each player character. The character is also rigged for use with Mixamo, all that remains now is to link the Mixamo animations to the character so it can finally move. We will be needing a lot of animations for this. For example, we’ll need animations for running forward, sideward, animations for walking, for throwing, for getting hit, for dying, and so on, and so on. In short there is still a lot of work ahead of us but still there is also a lot of work that is done right now.
